Ashland, MS – TCI has redesigned its signature Powerglide Planetaries with a unique bolt-together design, allowing quick and easy at-the-track changes to gear ratios and output shaft sizes and lengths.
New TCI Bolt-Together Powerglide Planetaries are built with the racer in mind as they optimize both strength and ease of use. The cleverly engineered bolt-together design in conjunction with several available gear ratios and shafts makes this the most versatile planetary unit for every racing configuration. The output shafts and gear ratios can be inspected and serviced easily without being sent back to TCI. The most important parts in the planetary are the gears, because they dictate the quality and strength of the planetary itself. Therefore, TCI gears are precisely manufactured from heat-treated 9310 steel to provide the strongest, lowest friction and quietest gear set on the market, capable of withstanding any racing environment. The new design is available in a variety of long Powerglide spline output shafts. Also new to this design are steel-backed, bi-metal washers with a wear-resistant PTFE layer that will reduce friction, and therefore reduce heat. Furthermore, the planetaries feature roller thrust bearings instead of washers for the sun gear and input shaft. These simple parts are known to commonly fail so TCI considered this as an important part of the design.
