All internal combustion engines display crankshaft torsional vibration. The job of the Rattler Torsional Vibration Absorber is to counteract those vibrations by using internal rollers that automatically offset the twisting forces that cause vibration to happen. The Rattler utilizes patented pendulum absorber technology, developed for the aviation industry, to control amplitudes of vibration and angle of crankshaft twist like no other design. Its ability to absorb rather than dampen is the key to its success. The Rattler is effective for the entire RPM range, and extends crankshaft and bearing life. The Rattler also has the ability to allow the engine to run smoother during operation, which can potentially increase valve train stability and longevity. Unlike traditional dampers, the design does not utilize viscous fluids or elastomers and requires virtually no maintenance, and is lighter in weight than most units of the same size and material construction. The TCI Rattler is available for all popular Ford, Chevrolet (including some LS), Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick street and race applications.
